Prior to focusing on journalism and obtaining a Columbia University School of Journalism masters in digital media (Centennial class-'13), Laurent ran a Brooklyn-based boutique digital agency since 2008 where each project focused on photography and video narratives. In tandem, starting in 2011, Laurent was a contributing multimedia producer for Media Global, a UN-based, non-profit news agency, where he upgraded their websites (from concept through implementation) to a multimedia platform that supported the excellent writing by the team. This journalistic experience led him to pursue a masters in digital media. Before launching his agency Laurent was a Project Director for branded media agencies. A unique experience that required extensive travels to cover and promote global affairs and economies.
The high production process of television news requires focused multidiscipline teamwork. This is experience that Laurent has recently gained firsthand. Additionally, the lessons he has learned in the newsroom and control room has allowed Laurent to see the potential for package and live producing for digital distribution channels to allow ‘voices’ to travel beyond borders and with greater audience interaction. For this reason, Laurent and Verite Global are primarily focused on digital media driven projects.
